I'm inheriting my grandfather's record collection when he leaves us. I can't wait to eBay some of the pieces...

    1991 Nissan Silvia (S13)

Pod filter, brand spanking new rebuilt engine.

I drive it hard up to the speed limit, so generally.. pretty hard.. but once there i drop the gear to 5th and cruise.

strangely enough for the 10 weeks ive had the car ive only refilled it twice..
that may be because it spent 8 weeks having its engine rebuilt...
its a pretty big tank, i put in 40 litres of 98 octane fuel the other day to my wallets disgust

i imagine i get around 10L/100k and abit less if i was driving like i should.

It's why I do school papers, etc. handwrittten if I'm allowed, otherwise on a typewriter. Why when I write, I do it with a '52-vintage Parker fountain pen. Why my phone is a '60's vintage Ericophone, complete with rotary dial. Why my bike (stolen) was a restored '56 Schwinn. Why I have just as good a time listening to anything from Frank Sinatra to Benny Goodman to Fats Domino to Louis Armstrong and beyond as any modern music. Why I lust for the cars of yesterday. Why I don't even have a cell phone, am selling my iPod given to me as an x-mas gift, and have never used a flash drive. Why when I dress I look like a James Dean retread. Why half my wardrobe is original vintage stuff, not "retro"-styled new stuff. You triumph the progress of today, and that's fine. I, however, continue to triumph the soul of yesteryear.

Late 1991 Mazda MX-5 (stock except for 15'' wheels)
Mostly city, few road, rarely use cruise-control, not much use of air conditioning either. One or two short revving moments per day.

    +9L / 100kms.
This isn't normal. Need to check my CO levels and such. It should be good for 7,5 to 8 L /100kms according to 99% of MX-5 drivers that use it in the same circumstances.

Just got back from a trip in my van. Had about 180 miles of my usual commute on county roads, some in-town, and all on rolling hills, and another 200 miles of freeway time. Had to snap off some full-throttle passes, though, so I only managed 13.977mpg.

sure, but it makes your figure even less understandable. Why not shift to metric like the rest of the civilised world (except the USA)...

I'm trying to work out my l/km at the moment, but it IS difficult...

If I can get it right, I think 1 grade on the fuel gauge is 10 litres, and 50 miles is around 86km...
