New British rally class
From this year there is going to be another class in Britains rallying. It will start with a test day in March, SV in April and Wilbarston May. Then Newtown after the customary Sweet lamb practice day, Prob Swansea. Then maybee in Sept Hamsterley, October ???, and Maybe Yorks in November. It will be 7 rounds 5 to score, plus a very novel "Drifting" competition which will win drivers a trip to Sweden!!!
This round runs basically along the same rules and on the same events as the 205's
The car
Basically they are BMW 325i. You can use 2dr, 4dr, or Touring. They are E30 shape from 85-91.
Engine Std 171bhp, no mods allowed [poss K&N filter]
Gearbox Std [not Sport c/Ratio box]
Diff Sport or optioned diff, Many cars had these as option, easy to pick up for £2-300
Brakes STD Mintex friction material[44 or 55 spec]
Steering Std
Suspension, Bilstein non adjust kit being produced, with spring kit
Exhaust std or deal with after mkt silencer
Seats
Harnesses[ ; Deals with Motordrive and TRS
Sump & Tank guards beiong made now
Fire kit
Cut off etc
Cage deal being made with Safety devices
Tyres Controlled. 1 gravel, 1 tar spec
I hope the whole kit will be about £2000 then a LSD and donor car
There will be 7 rounds 5 to count, plus the DRIFT championship within it where 2 or 3 corners per rally will be selected and marked for you to show your skills[points awarded hero worship complete]. The cars are quick enough 0-60 8.3 and 137mph. Plus NOISE is ACE. This will be great for Spectators. All engines boxes and diffs etc ECUs will be sealed at a rolling road where all power figures will be made public to other competitors[this works well in 205s]
Graham Middleton alredy has a car being built, he thinks it is great, plus ASCAR racer Michael Vergers is building one.
You must also wear a cravat and tweed cap when presenting car for scrutineering as it is posh liiiike!!! Awards will be given to poshest git!!
