That looks damn sexy whithout trying too hard. I didn't expect anything else from AM, to be honest
But what I don't get is why they used the name of an 80's car that had Audi headlights and Opel rear lights. If i was the boss of a great sportscar manufacturer, I wouldn't want to bring up bad memories :S.

I honestly liked the previous Virage.
Anyway. when I saw this I thought "**** the DB9 just gets better and better".
Then I saw the new name, and I though "why did it need a new name?!"
Then I read about the positioned between the DB9 and the DBS, and I was left wondering.

I'm happy there is another very good looking car out there, but I as many other don't understand what's supposed to be. I can see that it wasn't probably that much expensive to develop, and that it could appeal to some customers just because it's slightly different.
The point is that it's probably going to take customers from the other cars, not bringing new ones.

Perhaps in the flesh it's different enough to make a difference, but again I don't see why I should want one over a competitor, if we don't consider its sisters.

    I still want one though.

I hope this is a replacement and not just a new addition, how many Astons need there be? "Do you want a small, medium or large Aston?" "Medium." "OK, with a V8 or a V12? "V12" "Perfect right this way to your DB9." But now it's even MORE confusing!

More Aston news... if it's true what autoblog reports, AM is developing a new straight six engine to compete with the base Porsches. It actually doesn't seem that unrealistic- they would only have to cut their V12 in half.

Their V12 started life as two Ford V6s... it would be amusing if they did just saw it in half to get an I6, but I hope it's a new engine that can then go on to be the basis of a new V12. The current one isn't really that good.

Cutting their V12 in half would be too much of an expense to get to work properly. Why not just go for another Ford engine and use one of the Aussie I6's from the new Falcon range, they are pretty damn good!

The nice sound is mostly faked through the exhaust, the specific output isn't real amazing compared to its competitors, that sort of thing. It belies its bread and butter roots, basically.

Ben, that's a terrible idea on so many levels.

This is a nice facelift of the DB9, it's a pretty design to begin with and it must be agonising to have to fiddle with perfection. They'll need to, though, eventually.

Now Ford doesn't really have much of a say in what happens at Aston Martin, it probably wouldn't happen. I guess I'm just hopeful

Well, they already have a replacement for that one (sorta).

(hints at V12 in the One-77)

A straight six in an Aston again? Yes. Put me on that list. And send it to Jaguar for use in the B99. And put me on the list for one of those as well.

Parts compatibility was designed in to keep cots at a loss making company down, but its not a bad engine.

Its specific power is lower than some others as the main driving force was always intended to be torque for that effortless cross country cruising ability, whilst still allowing it to raise hairs on the back of the neck when desired.

High specific outputs can be obtained according to the designers (Cosworth) and have apparent been done so by individuals, but I havn't driven cars like that to comment on their durability, nor driveability.

Yea, it's not a bad engine, it just seems not as exciting as some of its competitors.
