I live in Munich/Germany. Like in other larger cities you
can hardly drive a SL55 to its full potential.
IMO the Brabus Smart V6 (or any Lotus) is much more fun
    to drive in the city.

Think this car can cope with any Lotus Elise?

    It's less than 1400cc.
It meets European emissions. including noise.
It's drivable ( Alpine R5s were similar engine size and 150 bhp more and were NOT drivable on anything other than full throttle and you needed ear-plugs to be within 10m of them !! )

the normal Smart City engine is 700cc inline-3
and when you take two of them and glue them to each other and turbocharge it, that's what you get a very small engine with a rather large output, let me remind you that other companies cant even do that.
i mean renault and peugeot are strugling to get the max out of a 2.0 litre engine and all they get is around 170-180 BHP, i know its not turbocharged but non the less

most had done it 30 years ago cf Alpine R5
Check out what companies have got out of the K-series engine without the need for turbos

The last point answered your own mis-representation
    Brabus are a tuner.
So check out what you get out of Tuned Xsaras, Meganes et al and it's a more equivalent comparison.
Not to take away from the Brabus engine, but if you want to see power go check out what Radical do to Suzuki engines

i know and i get you're point, but non the less
look for example what output they managed on the Smart City without even touching the capacity or turbo's, just by tweaking the ECU
