    Porsche 997 911 GT2 RS?

Pistonheads is reporting that an RS version of the GT2 is in the works - along with a 50 hp increase to 580 hp, a weight less of 200 kg or 440 pounds is expected if this actually happens.

I know this is conjecture and rumour and I would have added it to the 997 GT2 thread but I searched for one and did not find one.

Will it come to us sue-happy Yanks?
    The GT3 is 3070 lbs/1390kg the GT3 RS is 3030lbs/ 1370kgs.
The current GT2 is 3175lbs / 1440kg. 2735lbs/1240kg with 580 is gonna be even more deadly than the current one.

    OhmyGodohmyGodohmyGodohmyGodohmyGod...

    This would be cool.

    EDIT:

This could also maybe offer new competition for the controversial GT-R ring time.

A GT2 RS is a perfect example in my eyes of a car - like the GT-R - that blurs the line between sports car and supercar. Is it a supercar like the CGT was, or just a sportscar like the 911 is? It does not have as focused a design like the CGT or an Enzo or anything but the ZR1 is a pumped up C6 and it's a supercar is it not? Can this be a supercar if the ZR1 is?

LTSmash, will Nissan due an even smaller run Z-Tune like they did on the R34? I hope so.

That would be very cool. Even though they make some monsterous beastly pointless SUV, and I'm not feeling the 4d, at least they're doing a few things right in the fun car department.

would be kinda pointless actually. dunno who would buy one.
the old GT2RS or GT2R or whatever it was, was basically just a race car

You know I'm not sure of a Z-Tune in the R35 range. If it were to happen it wouldn't be for a while. To be honest on the subject of GT-R's, I'm not impressed. Too "techy" for me (Ferrer might agree ). But it's definitely a respectable car regardless. AWD was a turn off also.

perhaps it's just the usual revamp of their cars towards the end of their life, like the previous one or the Turbo S editions, and so on.

... And then a mid-engine, flag-ship, sixer! Well, maybe not.

thing is the only thing they have that can actually fit that is the Cayenne or the Panam, so no thanks.

iirc a Porsche's engine engineer told a magazine, when the 997 gen was unveiled back in 2004, that the maximum displacement for a 6 boxer was 4 liter (gotcha), and that it was kinda useless to use an 8 cylinder variant instead of a traditional V8, so I guess that's not going to happen any time soon, thinking of that.
for as regard a race car, rules seems to avoid the technical awesomeness of that era, while considering road cars...Porsche created basically just two road going high end sport cars, the 959 and the Carrera GT, the latter 24 years after the former, so you will need a lot of patience...
