The performance these on-road SUVs offer is a little obscene. There is no denying the thrill of sitting up high in a large box and dusting a purpose built sports car at a red light duel though.

The best performance SUV is probably the V10 TDI Touareg. Masses of torque is what you'd want in a SUV, to muscle a boat out of the water or pull a fellow pretty-ute out of the mud.
