It would have been cool to have seen a factory Viper a la the GT-S vs. the C6.R in GT1 but it was not to be I suppose.

That would be what I really wanted. To bring the viper up to GT1, but then there were the rumors of the vettes coming down to GT2, which is almost as good. I guess dodge was never really that serious about racing the viper and didn't want to put the money into it. Well, maybe that's not true since they do provide great support for club racers, to the extent of releasing a coupe model when originally none had been planned.

I thought the Vette(Z06 guise) did quite well in SCCA level racing as well against Vipers....
In FIA GT where there are more cars in the GT/GT1 class and all the teams were run by privateers the C6.R holds its own quite well compare to the Aston, Maserati and others, I don't see why they won't be in GT2....

They did well (still got beat, but that could be argued as drivers,) but that was when vipers were making the same hp as vetts on the street (500 vs 505.) Earlier, it was 350 hp stock vetts making 600hp (plus massive weight reductions etc.)when raced against 450hp stock vipers making 550hp when raced, and it annoyed me that people compared them in that fashion.

Probably the more hardcore of you have seen this already, but the bottom of this link has some interesting future provisions.
I hadn't heard the idea for a GT1 World Championship - I love the idea of a world championship and I hope that there is money and interest to make it work.

That's correct. Some sources suggest it might even be a V8 engine.

not even some sources, the very article on EI suggests that...which would be a turboless engine too.
Will this be a GT1 under the current regs, or already anticipate on the demise of this class, and adapt to the next version of the rules, more resembling current GT2 regs?

It's built to the 2010 regulations, which remarkably have not been made public yet.

Racing the GT-R in Japan GT500 was given but taking it GT racing is shocking...I am very curious of the engine configuration.
