In Canada the going rate on highways is typically between 110 km/h and 120 km/h.

Bullshit because I don't care too much about high speed cruising due to it being illegal here - in fact if you're over 150, highly illegal (however, the Street Racing Law as it's known as is being challenged as unconstitutional, and anyways, how is going over 150 street racing?), what I do care about is accelerating fast and having good driving dynamics. For that, I'd want an engine with more grunt.

Europe isn't a country and neither is Catalonia. Zing.

Therefore no high speed, no need for big power. The only place other than that were you might need power is on single lane roads. But I don't know if Canada/US has many of those.

110-120kph is slow...lol 130-140 is usually how fast I drive on Ontario 400 series hwy....and as with most traffic flow.


Just because some tuner enlarged it to beyond 3.8 doesn't mean its wise to do though. Porsche have to warranty the car for its life and they probably bench test the motor to hundreds of thousands of miles, something I highly doubt any tuner will do.

I think up to some point the packaging of an engine becomes an issue. 911 has its normal problem of being packaged at the wrong place and it is cramp to start with. To get bigger they might eventually need to retool the block to be bigger. Same issue with BMW's I-6, being a packaging inefficient layout and the fact that they cram this in to something as small as a 1 series. And the size of the 3 liter I-6 is already pretty massive with VANOS head and whatnot that I think it'd become a problem for a bigger block.

Do you really think traffic flows that fast? Even at late at night when the roads are empty still I find people at max going 130 km/h in the non-fast lane and sometimes higher but usually lower than 150 km/h in the fast lane.

Depends on where you drive now I guess....I've been doing most of my driving now between Sarnia and Mississauga(since I live in Rochester Hills, Michigan now, I work in US). Most of the time on 402 and 401 I can be going at 130-135 in the left lane and people are tailgating me to get pass.....

In GTA its a lot slower, but there are really no low-traffic hours any more in GTA....the volume is just ridiculous now...

Yeah well once you got to about Milton west of Toronto, you can go faster.

I drive frequently at 10 o'clock or so at night and it's somewhat light - I also drive somewhat frequently at 1-3 AM and it's not really heavy at that time.

From the camouflaged car and the supposed leak it just looks like a smaller 7 series. Also how big is the car supposed to be? The E60 just "looks" much larger than the E39 event though it really isn't. I'm getting kind of tired of the cars getting exorbitantly larger each generation.

If this is following in the shadow of the 7-series design, then I think this 5 series will be pretty slick. The 7er looks great in person, at least imo.

Average fuel consumption in the EU5 test cycle is just 5.0 litres/100 kilometres (equal to 56.5 mpg imp), the CO2 emission rating is 132 g/km (provisional figures).

The top-of-the-range BMW 550i comes with an eight-cylinder boasting BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology and High Precision Injection for maximum output of 300 kW/407 hp.

The straight-six with BMW TwinPower Turbo, High Precision Injection
and VALVETRONIC in the BMW 535i delivers maximum output of 225 kW/306 hp, while the two straight-six power units featuring High Precision Injection and lean-burn operation develop 190 kW/258 hp in the BMW 528i and, respectively, 150 kW/204 hp in the BMW 523i.

Straight-six diesels with the most advanced technology give the BMW 530d maximum output of 180 kW/245 hp and the BMW 525d an equally impressive 150 kW/204 hp. Fitted with optional BMW BluePerformance technology, the BMW 530d fulfils the EU6 emission standard. And it almost goes without saying that all versions of the new BMW 5 Series Sedan comply in full with the EU5 standard in Europe.
