The 1970s Holden HQ was an entirely Holden developed car, from the chassis, to the engine, to the interior and the suspensions. Earlier cars were modified Chevrolets, later cars modified Opels. So it is not quite true that Holden has no experience developing the chassis architecture themselves.

Damn right! In all but name, those grouse old Kingswoods were as aussie as football, meat pies etc

Interesting .. would that also apply to the various bigger Vauxhalls, eg like '56 PB Cresta and FD Victor/Ventora? Would Holden EJ-HG still rightly be considered a 'developed' pre-war Chevrolet Cadet? Or from Chevy II? Or local in its own right?

I'll add the word "often" before modified. I'd forgotten the Vauxhall connection.

Technically yes and no, There is a blade control system on the focus so it could be a base off that what the Falcons IRS is maybe?.
But you cant have a 4 speed auto and just ad 2 gears and it's a 6 speed it's a little harder then that. If anyone gets what i mean
Anyway here is a better pic of the VE.

Theyre both control blade IRS setups, which is also used on the Jag X-type i believe, but the Falcon was the first large, RWD Ford to use it.
