    College

I have officially submitted my first college application.

First one was UGA early admission, just finished it, all I have to do is have the school send my transcript in and I'm good to go and I will hear back on December 15th. Also applying to Texas A&M, TCU, TTU and maybe UCSB/LA.

Anyone else applying to schools this year or any of you guys in college have tips on the application process?

Either mechanical engineering (then work my way up in Porsche/VAG, 5 years and counting of German ftw) or whatever I feel like (pre-med).

    UGA: Do not want!
A&M: tolerable if you arent Corps of Cadets
TCU: they beat us at football routinely, other than that no idea
    TTU: never heard of it
UCSB: about 3-4 hours away from here, nice area, I approve
UCLA: same as above, but a little further away with better mexican food

hope you get in at all of them. mostly seem like pretty safe choices, UCLA aside. my biggest piece of advice is to go to the school. walk around. watch the students. have lunch on campus. and do this on your own or with a friend, not your parents.

decide which one you would feel most comfortable at, and that should be the one. thats how it happened for me, and i have no regrets.

    Where did you go?

    Why no UGA?

I've been to A&M, UCLA and UCSB. Loved all of them, UCLA would be my #1 if I knew I would get in and if it wasn't in Los Angeles.

Im in my 2nd year of College right now and sure its fun, but it can be very time consuming at the same time (thats why I'm not on UCP as much)...But my advice is to go for it, and even if you don't know what you want to major in right away, just knock out your general studies classes and then maybe something will come to you that you like to do...Remember this though, even if your unsure what you want to do, you are still in college and doing something with yourself...A lot of my friends didn't go to college and are hating there jobs right now, so you'll find out something you want to do...Have fun with it...

Go to college, find something worthwhile doing aside from going to classes(FSAE, god knows how much time that ate up), and kiss UCP goodbye for a long while....I know I did...(then now work and UCP returns as a good way to kill time)....

mp its nice to see you have mostly state schools. but TCU, wow. its private AND non-secular. please refrain from going here. i hate nepotism, and private schools have a lot of nepotists. so to christian schools. so this place is filled with nepotism. but i guess you are also one from that breed, i assume you mommy and daddy pay your tuition right? if not, good on ya!

also school in a large city > a school in some random small little bs college town.

MP the only one i like there is UCLA because its in la

i didnt even know uga did engineering. are you bs'ing to us? tsk tsk you better not. you can not bullsh*t a bullsh*tter

anyways, UCLA, because its LA. i hate la because you can't get around without a car, it is filled with airheads and the materialism is worse than new york. BUTTT, its still better than all those other random college town/hick towns that you picked for the other ones.

academically, for undergraduates, all the schools that have 20000 dollars or more per student have pretty much the same quality of education as each other. all those "college rankings" bs are still mainly based on GRADUATE school reputation, not undergraduates. the key really is to look at how much the money the school has (endowment) and how many students the school has. all the schools you picked are good financially, so they are good academically.

For me? UCSB (no way), UC Davis (maybe), UC Irvine (maybe), UC Berkley (no f-king way), some CSUs, USF (local!)
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.
