This weekend, RM Sotheby's will host their annual London sale. Consigned to the auction is an impressive collection of competition and road cars from the 1980s and 1990s and today we have highlighted two. First up is the very Lancia Delta S4 that won the 1985 RAC Rally where the legendary Group B racer made its competition debut. During the 1986 season, chassis 202 then served as a recce car for Markku Alen and Henri Toivonen. Well maintained by its successive Italian owners, the rare ex-works Delta S4 comes with unique bits that were original to the car like the embroidered seats.
Also consigned to the London sale is a rare example of the mighty Mercedes-Benz E 60 AMG of the early 1990s. Based on the E 500 that had been developed together with Porsche, the E 60 features an even larger, six-litre V8 engine as well as further suspension upgrades. The E 60 AMG on offer is one of an estimated 45 built by AMG themselves and is offered by the Youngtimer Collection.
This weekend at Las Vegas, Saleen offered a first glimpse of the S1 GT4 racer due to make its competition debut next year. It is based on the popular S1 Cup car but features subtle changes as well as a full-width rear wing to meet the GT4 regulations. The S1 GT4 will cost around $225,000 and is expected to be on the Pirelli GT4 America grids in 2020.
