    The Vision Industries K2 is an American designed, engineered, and built, technology oriented performance/luxury vehicle for the next millennium. The K2 is specifically designed for the American marketplace. The K2's slightly larger proportions over it's European rivals, allows for more headroom, legroom and overall interior space. The muscular design qualities of the K2 evoke power and prestige, which compliment the vehicle's 800 horsepower engine.

    Performance

    The VISION K2 is engineered for high performance driving. The K2 is designed to accommodate a BMW supercharge 6.0 liter V12 power plant mounted mid-ship for balance and superior handling capabilities. Power is to be transferred to 18" front and 19" rear wheels through a custom built six speed transaxle. The K2 will utilize a state-of-the-art independent suspension system, incorporating coil-over shocks for superior control, power transfer, and ride characteristics.

    Value

    The VISION K2 will be priced well below other exotic and super cars as a result of advanced manufacturing and production processes, limited overhead, and streamlined expenses. The K2 will be assembled from state-of-the-art existing components. This reduces the capital requirements and fixed costs associated with manufacturing automobiles of this caliber, allowing the company to aggressively price the K2. The targeted price is $225,000.

    Design

    The exterior body of the K2 is designed to be aerodynamically efficient, and to evoke power through its "muscular" qualities. The futuristic design reflects the vehicles' state-of-the-art components and powerful 800+ horsepower. In addition to superior cornering characteristics, the mid-engine layout creates an aggressive cab-forward design which increases forward visibility and creates a perfect 50 - 50 weight distribution balance between the front and rear wheels. The rear wing is designed for both safety and performance, reducing turbulence behind the vehicle for improved aerodynamics, and housing the rear brake lights for improved visibility.

    Comfort

    The interior of every VISION K2 will be custom tailored to each client's personal specifications. All interior surfaces and controls are to be ergonomically designed and located for convenience and comfort. Every effort will be made to cater to the comfort demands of each client in the areas of temperature control, audio preferences, and trim material preferences. In addition, the ride quality, (suspension geometry), and engine noise level will be individually designed, in accordance to the preferences of each client.

    Quality

    The VISION K2 is designed to incorporate the highest quality components, assembled in accordance with aerospace standard military specifications. The VISION K2 will employ the most advanced materials technology, superior aerodynamic design, and the highest quality workmanship. Every VISION K2 vehicle will carry a comprehensive factory warranty.

    Safety

    Safety is one of the most critical elements incorporated into the design of the VISION K2. The K2 is designed with the following safety features:

    * Carbon fiber, honeycomb aluminum, and a tubular steel chassis for
    lightness and strength
    * Carbon fiber body panels for rigidity
    * Integrated tubular steel roll cage to protect occupants in the event of a collision
    * Large racing derived ventilated rotor, 4 piston, anti-lock brakes for
    superior deceleration. (ABS if desired)
    * Dual air bags
    * ZR rated tires
    * Rear mounted video cameras providing unobstructed 180 degree rear vision
    * 4 point safety harnesses
    * Flexible membrane fuel cell with automatic shut-off valve in the event of a collision

    Vision Industries is an exclusive American marque.

    The individuals involved with K2's early development include: John Misumi, Chief Opperations Officer (from Los Angeles, California). Tom Kellogg, the Chief Exterior Stylist (from Irvine, California) who also penned for the Avanti sportscar. Also involved with early development was Princely Count Vitus Sebastian Barbaro, an American-born Italian aristocrat (from Chicago, Illinois) who is an aerospace engineer and automotive designer. At the time, Barbaro was the courtesy Baron Albergo and presented the interior concepts and ideas for a Vision Industries logo. Vitus Barbaro later went on to present concepts for the Ferrari Enzo and Bentley Continental GT.

    The code-name for the project, K2, reflected the name of one of the highest mountain peaks and the idea of elevated performance. The official production model was named SZR and included adjustments to the rear aerodynamics and frontal lighting treatments. No rear spoiler is found on the production model, giving the automobile a cleaner and more sleek appearance.
