I remember saying this before but since this car is itself a replay; Ford introduced the Pony car and GM bettered it. History repeats itself as this retro is better than Fords.

I think it'll be better to reserve judgement until you see the production version...

I have a feeling that this will be very close to the production car.

And my God, does it look good!

I seem to remember a gem when GM first introduced the Camaro- they were asked what 'Camaro' meant, and they replied, "A small, vicious animal that likes to eat Mustangs".

Apparently you are right. I've read at LLN that GM has made a very expensive modification to the Zeta platfomr to ensure that the actual production car will look as much as possible like the concept car and that it'll also allow the use of 20" wheels without compromising the turning circle.

However I've never been a fan of this car, in my opinion it looks to edgy and angular. The retro muscle car efforts from Ford (Mustang) and Dodge (Challenger) look better in my opinion. Despite that I'm all for V8 rear driven muscle cars, the more we have the better.

i think the edginess is why the camaro is so good, it looks a bit like its trying to move when standing still. the challenger is too sleek looking. the camaro just looks like a big brute of a car.

From 1st December '06 FWIW, but speaking of production ..
The modern-day version of the 1960s American muscle car, the Chevrolet Camaro, will be on local roads before Christmas. Denny Mooney, the boss of Holden, told Drive this week: "We are building prototype Camaros right now. We should see some on the roads before Christmas."

Let's hope the interior will be of high quality and will not be too plasticky like the mustang's, even though if they have to raise the price of the car a little bit. I think GM have understood with their last offerings (new caprice) that quality is how they will attract and keep customers, not only design...
