I'd rather not if its all the same to you.

850; the one to go for has (at least) the letter 'T' and the numeral '5' in conjunction somewhere upon the rear of the car.

Buy one, remove aforementioned signage, resist the urge to attach crappy body kits to it, and you have one hell of a Q car.

UK owners had the added bonus in the fact that the police used to have Volvo 850 T5s as rapid response cars. So if you bought a white one, everyone thought you were trafpol.

Being quite a while since I read a review of one, I seem to remember that the lesser models were bland to adequate.
    Thanks for all the fish

well, as you might know already, i have a volvo 850 glt. it's also my first car! it's a very very nice choice, because it's fast, and has room for friends/stuff. for choosing which one, buy the best one you can find (aka, the fastest). the price difference isnt very large, it's just it's very hard to find a T-5. i like it so much, here it is breaking 100000 miles! (ive only put about 10000 on it, though). bottom line, the volvo 850 glt is a sweet car. i have to admit that it doesnt have the best styling, though. however, it still beats the crap outa most stock passenger cars it can even hold it's own with the rx-7

The 850’s are great cars, my dad had a white 850se not as fast as the 850R or the LM edition T5-R (most powerful production FWD), the car is also responsible for my dad buying the S80 Volvo For Life..

Also, is a 850 Turbo the same as a 850 T-5 or is the T-5 better and how much better

That's awesome, Volvo station wagons are great, especially for high speed trips down the dirt road by my parents house.

My dad as an 850 SE sedan, auto. It's nice and tractable, it'll rev all the way to the limiter very happily, and it pulls very nicely. I'm one of those who would much rather have a manual, but for an auto, this is a fantastic gearbox. Switch to sport mode and it'll happily drop a gear or two, nice and fast, and you'll be flying along in no time. And this is the NA engine.

Rather than asking people who don't know a huge ammount about Volvos, have you considered finding a Volvo specific forum?
They'd probably be able to give you more accurate answers, and tell you about any problems you should look out for etc
    Thanks for all the fish

    Same thing T = Turbo, 5= 5 cylinder = T5...

Oh and one more thing, good choice the 850’s have the best automatic transmissions in the world.. not that I drive one.. I mean automatic.. I just happened to know..
