You couldn't understand his strategies Wouter, you don't have all his prestigious school grades and whatnot...

He didn't say that, he said a strategy he employs is to play with weak cards so your opponents don't get a good read on you.

As far as I know, this is a valid strategy.

I hate weak cards. Seven and deuce, 3 and eight? I wouldn't touch them with a stick.
Would it be possible, to play forever?
The conclusion reached was that a player is inevitably doomed to lose.

It's part of the game though. You gotta deal with low cards. That's where bluffing makes all its sense.

Exactly ! For me it hasn't gone bad with this to be honest, many people dont use any tactic at all, so its easy to win from em. I never play for money though..

Maybe it'd be nice to start a ucp poker tournament online somewhere ?

My friends and I only play for money, but never big bucks.

Our buy-in is R$5,00. To put it in perspective, It's enough for 3 beers at the supermarket. And then we stipulate some limits for the re-buys and people usually spend 10 or 15 bucks a night. The whole pot reached R$80,00 yesterday. Only once did the guys go mad and spend over 20 bucks on average, but the whole pot was still a modest R$125,00.

It's never the same when people have nothing to lose.

    "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy".
BBC radio show is the best, followed closely by the BBC TV series.
The film was a feeble copy.

    from britain nobody read
Actually the book series were best sellers BEFORE the radio series and the TV series and long, long before the film
You can find the radio and TV on bittorrent sites

Pick up a book such as 'Super System' by Doyle Brunson or any other popular poker book. It'll fill you in on a lot of basics of poker but also teaches you about the more analytical and mathematical sides of hold'em. On top of that, experience helps, so the more you play.. generally the better you get. I think Drakkie said this but it's important to change up the way you play.. if you always play 'tight' and only bet good hands while rarely bluffing or chasing down straights or flushes, no one will call you when you bet/raise. Opposite also applies for people who are calling stations or bluff consistently, no one will respect your hand. If you change it up between both ends of the scale it keeps people from reading you well.

Last thing, only lie and talk during a hand if you're very good at deception or impossible to figure out. I've made so many folds/calls in the past from people who thought they were clever by saying stuff like 'man I'm tired and want to go to bed' and end up rasing all in.

The real meaning of life is a pretty girl on one side and the alcoholic beverage of your choice on the other. While sitting on a white sand beach watching the sun go down.

I love watching Hold'Em on TV, but I don't have the money to play.
