    DUI doesnt apply to lawnmowers

Man caught driving a lawnmower drunk is aquitted even though the law applies to such vehicles. Article can be found below

    DUI on a Lawnmower

Whats next? I for one dont think that this should be gotten away with, it still has a motor and can be driven on the road. Where does the line get drawn? Can anyone see this escalating out of hand?

I'm not sure this occurs often enough to really be concerned with. It is a lawn tractor, after all, and the things aren't really that dangerous unless the blades are activated. Hell, it can't even go more than ~5.5mph, anybody half-sober could get out of the way. It's more dangerous to the driver than anybody else, and I figure if he's stupid enough to go out and do this, then why should I protect him? Government is no substitute for common sense, IMHO.

I noticed that they don't consider "vehicles running on rails" to be motor vehicles, does this mean you are legally allowed to drive a train while drunk?

Hmmm well as for the train part. I do remember in the newspaper a subway driver up here in toronto getting arrested for controlling the train while intoxicated. Even if he can't get arrested for a DUI i'm sure there are a whole slew of public endangerment charges that they can conjure, not to mention they'll propmtly get fired.

Definitely train operators need to be held accountable for drunk...whatever it is they do in trains (driving? operating? conducting?). I know that Union Pacific (the devil down here that holds up all the Amtrak passenger trains) has some strict guidelines as far as that goes, and I'm sure other entities do as well. Enforcing them is another matter entirely, I'm sure.

If only he was a pilot, he would have got a bottle of vodka.

Ghey. Jagoff cops trying to fill quotas. I understand DUI and the repercussions of driving drunk, but it's a 4mph camel-ridden contraption in the middle of the outback.
