I wonder if anyone in this forum own those cameras.

I think Sony also has live view, although I forget which one.
My 1D Mark III has live view. I never figured out how it works though.

I looked online but with little success. Can someone explain what liveview is exactly?

I expected a concept so intricate and beyond my grasp of reality. Easy enough.

I had never heard the word before either, but I decided to apply logic.....

If Wouter said his 1D had it I thought it may have been something far more complicated than an LCD viewfinder.

for an SLR it is something far more complicated to achieve, as it is not based on the video systems that are used in non-SLR cameras. And permanently using the video screen is what rapidly depletes the energy of the camera batteries.

Ahh, right. Didn't consider the differing structure of an SLR to a typical point and click.

Yeah, I have a basic knowledge of an SLR's construction. Didn't occur to me right away that the LCD would have to coincide with all of that.

live view is a great thing, i have it on my D300. but the LCD turns off while focusing (auto focus) and at shotting moment.

But that's better than no live view at all.

From what I hear the D300 pulls off live view well.

I really wish my camera had live view. It makes very low and very high shots soooo much easier. I've been on my back or stomach with my head cocked at weird angles far too many times.
