actually the alfa brera comes in under the 350Z now that i think of it, it's just slower.

i would take an MX-5 over the base model cayman. although i have no clue if it's better than it's rivals. the only Z4 i've ridden in seemed much better, didn't get to drive that though.

weighs 1560 or something, so it comes in under your 350Z weight. not really a sportscar though.

I guess the Brera is more about the styling than anything else (fair enough until it is such a beautiful car).
and probably they messed up a little drawing something to fight against 350Z and the likes, while marketing it as a 3-Series/CLK/A5 or whatever you want. you know the difference. it's just the expensive and comfy coupè of the line-up.

It's not really a focused sportcar car though. More like 159 Coupe, which for a sportscar is not a good start.

All three are 2 seater sportscars similar in size, performance and price. Definitely competitors in my book.
Holy crap... 350Zs are expensive over there, over here you'll probably get it out of the dealer after taxes for under 35,000 US dollars. Used, 2008, with less than 20k miles and you'll get it for US $24,000

Anyway, seems that my numbers (cars.com and ultimatecarpage.com) are different from yours.

My point remains, there's a bunch of good-performing heavy cars out there. It's never been a secret that the 350Z is heavier than its Japanese competition (S2000 / RX8), but it performs and handles good enough to take care of any criticism.

And anyway they are solving it for the next gen.

that was my point, it's not a sport car, just the coupe of the lineup.
