Need help finding specific name of a Porsche

Ok......saw this red Porshe one day. It belongs to my friend's cousin. It's red, it has a thing you twist to control the power of the engine a bit, 550+ horsepower, spoiler came off the back at an angle parrallel to the ground (the whole spoiler is pretty parrallel to the ground, not completely though, but close) and is probably about 300 centimeter's long. This thing is also a ridiculously loud Porsche.

Definitely not new, here is a pic of another Porsche with similar looks, I am pretty sure they are the same generation.

930? (early 911 turbo) has the huge rear spoiler whale tail, but not 550+hp, could be a ruf yellowbird repainted to red?

Perhaps. I know it is almost definitely modified, but I A) Do not know all that much about the history of modified Porsche's, only the new stuff, and B) Sadly, the goldfish did not survive the brain transplant.

Whatever it is, it's definately modified, whether or not it was a recognised tuner's product or just a one-off, can't really say without more info. Mayhaps your friend should ask the cousin.

Based on your description, it's probably a modified 930 or 964 turbo model (see pictures). It's most likely that it was done by a performance shop (aka not necessarily a big name tuner). There was a wicked 911 Slantnose done up by a Porsche servicing shop near where I live with around 500hp - apperently it could touch 170km/h in second gear.

It looks to me like a 3.3 Turbo, egg nog posted a pic of one.

if it is indeed the 3,3 l turbo,550 hp would be pretty hard o get, since the engine was old and allready tuned to its near limit. just read it in my porsche book.

I am currently waiting for my friend's cousin to come back (he lives close, so he visits often), where I will take pictures of every little part of the car, and find out what the hell it is. It looks very close to the 2 cars that Egg Nog posted up.

Will post later when there are more updates.

Hey I'm no Porsche specialist but maybe it was 935 biturbo from 1998?
