    Firefox 3 download day

Not sure if anyone knows, but Mozilla is hoping to crack the Guinness record for most downloads in a 24 hour period when they release FF3 to the world.

If you don't know what Firefox is, let's just call it the best thing since the invention of the wheel.

I deleted Firefox from my computer after using it since the original beta over 2? years ago. I've been on Opera for about 6 months now.. is this one going to be good enough to switch back?

    Let's find out.

EDIT: Not liking this already. All these 'OMFG DOWNLOAD DAY LOLZ' gimmicks and required e-mail pledge is making me think Firefox is going to get all trendy and flashy. The original reason I switched to firefox was its barebones, quick, ad-free no BS browsing. Now it's practically turned into Vista, but my opinion here may be wrong.

Is download day today, tomorrow, next week? Anyone have any ideas?

Opera is good as well. I'm so used to Firefox right now though that I doubt I'll ever switch to anything else ever again.
I can understand you just want the barebones-basics in a browser, but me, I like the plethora of add-ons and customization abilities of Firefox. Gadget junky I guess.

No indication of when the actual download day will take place, though I'm hoping soon.

IE? Not a fan. At. All. v.7 is way better than anything before it, but I just don't like it. Interesting fact though is that you can open IE within Firefox if you really want to (another gadget ), though I just do that when I try to impress the IE devotees.

If you want to give FF3 a test-drive, you can get the RC1 version here. After that, visit here for gadgets, themes and all-around add-on goodness.

RC1 was the Firefox 3 Beta or something or other right? I used it for a couple of weeks but it was a bit glitchy and bugged for my tastes, so I went back to FF2.

Yep, it's like a pre-official-release beta version. Running side-by-side with FF2 at the moment just to see what it's features are, liking it so far.
One feature/ improvement in particular I like a lot is that it seems to be using a lot less system resources than 2 does. If it's anything like FF2 RC1 was though, I'll probably be running into the same bugs and glitches you encountered.

    So far though, so good.

I've been using FF since 0.9. Some versions are better than others but almost without exception, they're better than IE. I've been using the "Minefield" versions of FF3, which are revised nightly and they're really, really good. All the extensions which I use are now functional and FF3 does not have the irritating memory leaks which marred FF2. For those who worry it will suffer from the bloat, I've seen nothing to indicate that -- as with all versions of FF, it will be what you want it to be. I only use about 5 extensions because I want to keep the program running quickly. No disappointments.

I had to get my mother using IE since FF packed up on her, Uninstaller and all still wouldn't work, IE all the way for her PC.

I've been using FireFox for a while.
Tried Opera a while back and didn't like it
And I tried Firefox 3 Beta 2 for a while, but it kept crashing...

Happened on parents computer. I got the message "Firefox is currently not responding but a session is still in progress" I've uninstalled and done whatever I have done before when it packs up and still no luck with it, task manager etc.

Still using FF2 on my computer. Personally I think its great.

I think IE doesn't support transparency? Little does it affect browsing though.
Miscommunication seems to be a direct result of misplaced, text based sarcasm.

I switched to Firefox when version 2 came out, updated to all 5 beta releases of version 3 and the release candidate, now I have the real deal, never had a single problem. Didn't even crash once.

    <3 Firefox.

Firefox became a necessity to me when my computer died in the ass with virus'.

    too much midget amputee porn.

so I switched from IE to FF, and it works for me.

I've heard very good things about Opera though.
