September is a very busy month for historic motor racing with the Goodwood Revival on the roster this weekend. The 20th anniversary will be celebrated while one of the feature races will be the Kinrara Trophy that runs into the sunset on Friday evening. Run for early 1960s GT cars, it is expected to have a grid worth around a quarter of a billion dollars. Among the cars due to line up is this Ferrari 250 GT SWB. Originally finished in an unusual burgundy colour, it was raced with considerable success by Luigi Chinetti's North American Racing Team. Now in N.A.R.T. blue, it has been with the same family since 1986. We captured chassis 2237GT last month getting a first toe in the water around the challenging Goodwood Motor Circuit.
A set fixture of the Revival Meeting is the Bonhams Auction held on Saturday. Among the consignments is this fabulous Ford F3L, which sounds like a bargain with a GBP 500,000 - 700,000 estimate. The British auctioneer also has a pair of Ferrari's latest hypercar on offer; the LaFerrari both in Coupe and Aperta form. Sold in very limited numbers, the latter is particularly sought after and Bonhams reckon it should sell for over GBP 5 million.
With the forecasts predicting lovely weather throughout the weekend, all the ingredients are in place for a great event and there are still tickets available on the Goodwood website. As always, we will be making the magical step back in time and provide detailed coverage during the following week.
