how more bloody dedicated can you get than one called "photography"?

I think he means forums with hundreds of members whose linking interest is photography, not cars.

Not that we can't help, but he'd get more opinions from another forum.

I've got a Canon 450D with the 18-55 IS lense and I bought a Canon 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lense for 279. It's a great lense, beautiful colors, sharp and the Image Stabilisation works fine. Here are some examples:
