Ferrari drops the top on the F8 and 812, and McLaren F1 restored ...

In a virtually simultaneous reveal, Ferrari announced the drop-top version of both the mid-engined F8 and the front-engined 812. The first is suitably dubbed the F8 Spider and shares its 710bhp underpinnings with the F8 Tributo coupe launched earlier this year. That means that new machine is nearly 50bhp more powerful than the 488 Spider it replaces. Unique to the F8 Spider is the retractable roof that allows the V8-engined machine to provide the best of both worlds.
Picking up from the 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider launched exactly 50 years ago, Ferrari have finally added a regular production V12 drop-top to the range again in the form of the 812 GTS. It is based on the 812 Superfast, yet like the F8 Spider features a retractable hard-top to provide the sensation of open-top driving not available in Ferrari's V12-engined GT range for so long. The roof can be retracted in just 14 seconds at speeds of up to 45km/h. Like the coupe, the 812 GTS boasts a naturally aspirated V12 that produces a howling 788bhp.
McLaren Special Operations have recently completed a 3,000-hour, 18-month restoration of this McLaren F1. Particular care and time was given to the exterior finish, which took a staggering 900 hours to do. Chassis 063 made its post-restoration debut this weekend and the Hampton Court Concours d'Elegance.

If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.
