    Coinsidence?

Listening to this song, and how the lyrics pretty much apply directly to New Orleans/Katrina...kinda strange.
...If it keeps on rainin, levees goin to break,
When the levee breaks Ill have no place to stay...Dont it make you feel bad
When youre tryin to find your way home,
You dont know which way to go?
    If youre goin down south
They go no work to do...
    Kinda wierd huh?
He came dancing across the water
    With his galleons and guns
    Looking for the new world
In that palace in the sun
    On the shore lay Montezuma
With his cocoa leaves and pearls

I am guessing listening to either Led Zeppelin or Bob Dylan. This conicidence occurred to me long ago.

That song is a really old delta blues song so it goes way back.

I would always picture myself sitting on a roof in Louisiana with floodwaters all around me, blasting that song at maximum volume terrible yes I realize, but there you have it.

But yes I realized this a long time ago too. Not really surprising since there's a song about almost anything.

Thats what I always say, as soon as I heard about the flooding I said we should hop a plane, grab a boombox and stand on top on the Levees and blare that song. I know its wrong on so many levels, but I do what I can...

No. Katrina was not the first big flood. Don't they teach history over in Texas?
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

What about New Orleans is Sinking by the Tragically Hip? A much worse song and a much worse band but I will snap up some lyrics from the interweb:

Bourbon blues on the street loose and complete
    Under skies all smoky blue-green
I can Forksake the dixie dead shake
So we dance the sidewalk clean
My memory is muddy what's this river I'm in
New Orleans is sinking and I don't want to swim

You realize that New Orleans is below sea level and it was common knowledge before Katrina that theoretically the levees could break and the city could flood...
