They're supposed to be the same car, with the different names coming in with the GTO nameplate deemed improper for the American market and replaced with 3000GT

The 3000GT is the American Version of the Japanese Mitsubishi GTO. But the really GTO is the Twin Turbo Version that in America is the 3000GT VR-4. So those pics that you posted are just 3000GT's with the GTO plate ase "FVP GTHO" said.
