    Highest Rpm Possible (street legal)

What street legal car has the higest Rpm, my friend has an rsx type S and it can shift at 9K rpm, i know the S2000 matches that, never heard of anything that is capable of higher and can go on roads. If you know any car capable of better post it here...

My R/C car hits ~50k rpm IIRC. To tell you the truth, I don't know. Are you speaking of production cars or the highest revving street legal car, tuned or not.

I presume production cars. Yeah, the S2000 is the highest revving car that I can think of at the moment.

i'm sure there are a few tuned rotaries that will get to 10k rpm and maybe higher

Yeah, S2k is the highest I can think of. Ca. 10000rpm if I'm recalling this right.

You might want to try bikes. There's a few that will go to 14000+

I checked with the RX8 - it's "only" good to go to about 8.5k rpm.

I just thought about the turbine Chryslers...they idled at 10 or 12K...cruised at 30k or something. And this is the 1960's...

I think the rotary engines well beat the rsx and s2000, just in their nature they rev higher and make power at high rpms.

Well all the bike engined cars like Radical, Z and Megabusa etc etc are good for 13-15K. I anyone sued a race tuned biek engien then they're good for 17-18K ( dont think anyone ever has as they get "temperamental" then )

If you're going to count the Caterham 7 R500 as a production car then it is the highest revving piston-engined car ever, 9200rpm. The RX8 will rev to about 9400rpm if you're prepared to listen to the warning buzzer squealing away. As for tuned cars, RB26DETTs are sometimes good for over 10k but it's easier to just increase boost for more power rather than revs.

I was going to say 'check out anything that's built with a bike engine, such as the Z cars minis, the bike engined westies and a few others' but that crazy scottish geezer beat me to it. AGAIN.

BMC A-series engines can hit over 10k rpm with just a "little" work
