The International CXT is far more "stunning and powerful." And the new Dodge Ram 1500 with the link rear suspension actually has a far more car like ride (though buying a truck because it's carlike is really missing the point.)

I've always been a dodge (cummins) fan, but it'd be hard for me to say no to Rob's suggestion. However since I can borrow my dad's dodge if I want to tow anything huge, what I'd really go for now if I had to pick just one truck to have would be a Jeep Brute. Like some aussie ute could ever be that cool.

The '82 Ford Courier diesel I learnt to drive in. It's utterly stuffed, but it will never die.

Toyota Hilux any day, I think because of their ubiquity in Africa, one African civil war is also referred to as the Toyota War

Toyota Hilux. Can't kill the motherf**kers.

For a full-sizer, I'd pick an early 70's Ford F100. I like their looks, they're proven tough, and the F100 is a nice, basic truck.

I dunno if you are wanting used or new but i think for new trucks the new silverado takes the cake. its tough, extremely reliable, very nice interior, best in class gas mileage.

if you are looking for a used truck, i am very fond of 1996-2000 Chevy or GMC k1500. I have owned 3. the one with the least miles i wrecked with 110,000 miles. My second one i sold at 170,000 miles and im on my third right now which has 130,000. I beat the hell out of my trucks with lots of towing, hunting, and off roading and these truck can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. i have never had any major problem with any of my trucks. and i bought each of them for less than 8000$
