Do You Still Drive a Car with Carbs or a Choke?

Just curious, does anyone on the forum drive cars with a choke or carberetor frequently, maybe as a track car or even better, a daily driver?

I sorta do. My dad's Accord has carbs. I pine for the simpler era all the time.

I wouldn't call it a daily driver, but my car which I drive fairly frequently has a carb.

Just realized something- if it has a choke, that would mean it would automatically have carbs right...?

Aside from the CSL (injected), all but one of my cars are (multi) carburetted.
There's a UniSyn in my toolbox, but once synched, Webers stay in tune.

Three cars have chokes.

Originally it had a carburator, then the previous owners swapped in a fuel injection system.

I myself tore the whole thing of and have bought some ITB (individual throttle bodies) to install later.

My auto-X MG midget has MGB carbs on it. I haven't driven that in a few years though. I do drive other cars/race cars with carbs quite often. Actually, I installed a pair of webers on a spitfire today.

no, funnily enough.. all my cars run EFI (converted to it, in one case). my project mini's have carbs but i don't drive them yet

yep, I want "wtf" when I read the poll, but you picked it up in the thread.

Carbs have to have chokes for cold start control .... some have automatic chokes -- which in very cold/damp/icy countries tend to suck and stick OFF. Not great in the morning ... ah many a time spent bashing the Avenger carb on a winter's morn to free the mech up

However, I do also have to pick you up on there are other excellent carbs than Webers ... though (imho) not as sexy looking our sounding.

So, 2 X twin-downdraught Webber 45s on the Matra.
Single twin downdraught 45 on the Quantum.
Oddly a Dell'Orto on the other - someone clearly took a weber 35 off and mangled this thing on

And modded on's usually put on Webers We had notorious problems with the Ds on the MGB as setup was VERY tempreamental to the car being level and we never managed to track it down. Instead fitted a tapered gasket to get them off "level"

Nothing beats the sound of two ( or THREE ) twin barrel Webers on full throttle with trumpets -- preferably nice and SHORT yummy

Yeah, you're right, the Accord has an auto carb thingy. Starts very well in the cold actually, it started on the 2nd try.

I'm not old enough to hear Webers frequently though, or close enough to a track to see old cars often enough. Shame.

Do they have fuel injection to carburetor conversions? I mean, there's nothing more simple (relatively speaking) than a car with carbs. You really can work on them with a hammer.

Even "dumb" style cars like the Corvette or the Mustang have fuel injection, ABS, all the modern amenities now, I don't think you can work on a ZR1 in your garage the same way you definitely could and would with a 60's muscle car unless you were doing some simple stuff.
