Romanian Pride This car is very practical and cheap. My uncle in Romania has one. Quick and nibble. I believe these are still made in Romania. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thats because it is a really cheap car, and that is its sole purpose.

The question was raised: If this car can be sold for nearly 1/2 the price of the next cheapest car in the UK, why are all those other "cheap" cars so expensive?
    Thanks for all the fish

This is the advantage of having local production, using very cheap labour. Don't be surprised when you see other manufacturers move to eastern european countries, like BMW and Audi already did.
You may have your doubts about the quality of such cars, but in the countries where they are sold many people are capable of dealing with those and you see very many Dacia's and Oltcits still being driven around in Romania.

And why is it that we are so proud of our quality (and expensive) cars, which we will drive for maximum three or four, before they disappear into the second hand markets of the same eastern european countries.

Well the new car my uncle car is not the Logan, it's actually a 2004 model called Solenza but it looks very similar in design. Ugly? It's not worse than a Sunfire or those crappy subcompact Chevys *shivers*. The basic model has no radio, no air conditioning, no heating, basically, it's stripped down to the lowest quality parts. It does have manual air, it lets air come in from the outside. People in Romania don't mind this because it is very cheap and because it's made there, changing parts is also cheap.

I don't doubt the quality of this car.
I saw one of these the other day, and it appears to be nothing less than a booted Clio.

It gets the job done as simply as possible.
    Thanks for all the fish
