oh, dear JPM bins it on the last corner
Ron Dennis won't be a hppy man as he - as usual - wants them to be the Constructor Champion. This will make it hard !!

    Jordan's pace was very impressive.

I was expecting to hear Dutch jubilations for a 1-2 on the grid ( shame it's 16 places back !! )

Good start for Williams, much better than the 0.1 gap between the pair at Silverstone which was also the mk1 vs mk2 bodywork. Should be interesting though to see what fuel load got thm 6th and 7th though..

No doubt Raikonnen will be hoping the top 3 stays that way for the rest of the race though

Mister MuhSchuey (I'm sure I don't have to explain that one) will be happy not to be stuck behind Trulli again, I wonder what happened there. Toyota really didn't qualify well at all.

What if a miracle happens? What if JPM wins? Like... either 2000 or 2001, Barrichello qualified 18th and finished first in Hockenheim. What if JP can win this race????

Did anyone catch Louise Goodman's interview with Coulthard about the driver's strike? Is there no end to DC's new found naughtiness, swearing on live morning television?!

    Game, Set & Match Alonso???

It looks like it could be all over for the WDC with another bout of shockingly bad luck for Kimi Raikkonen. Basically all Alonso needs to do from now 'til the end of the season is stay out of trouble, hope his car holds together, and pick up a few podium finishes. Regardless of how many races Kimi can win in the latter third of the season, if FA claims good solid points in most/all the remaining races the championship is his. I'm happy for FA, I think he's a great racer and it's great for the sport that we're gonna have such a young World Champ. I'm just a bit gutted that Mercedes-Ilmor's reliability issues have cost the fans what was potentially one of the most exciting championship battles in recent memory.

While not a classic, it was still a pretty good race today with some traditional Hockenheim 1st lap madness, Montoya scything his way up through the field, and home hero Schumi scything his way BACKWARDS through the field!

    1. Alonso
    2. Montoya
    3. Button
    4. Fisichella
    5. M. Schumacher
    6. Walph Schumacher
    7. Coulthard
    8. Massa
    9. Klien
    10. Barrichello

Well I have to put my hand up Montoya made up for his cock-up in qualifying.

Looked as if he was doing a fair bit of barging at the start and maybe lucky to get away with it. BUT after that did all right in the recognised fastest car on the track.

Again the Jordan driver had a pathetic race. Monteiro's shunt with Villeneuve was rediculous.

Only bettered by Villeneuve punting Doornbos.

    I see a common failure

Unlikely that we'll see Villeneuve in an F1 car next season......
