The only Non-Elected President, if i Remember correctly.

Well he'll be missed. no doubt. He did a good job of holding the fort following the major weirdness of Nixon.

I was watching Weekend Update on the first season of SNL on my computer a few minutes before I heard the news, freakishly enough.

President Ford’s regular weekly accident took place this week in Hartford, Connecticut, where Ford’s Lincoln was hit by a Buick. Alert Secret Service Agents seized the Buick and wrestled it to the ground. No one was injured in the accident, but when the President got out to see what had happened, he tore his jacket sleeve on the car bumper, bumped his head, and stuck his thumb in his right eye. Alert Secret Service agents seized the thumb and wrestled it to the ground. Said Mr. Ford, quote: “I just assumed my thumb was in my pocket with the rest of my fingers.” Concerning the collision, New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison says he will immediately launch an investigation into the “second car theory.”

Neither Millard Fillmore nor Andrew Johnson were initially elected into the presidency, nor were elected for a second term. Fillmore came into power after the death of Zachery Taylor, and Johnson after the assination of Lincold. There have been several others than have taken power, then re-elected following the completion of the first term.

Its a sad day when we lose a president. I am just glad it was from natural causes and he was at home with his family where he belonged.

True, but all of them were elected as a part of the President-Vice President duo. Gerald Ford was the only one that didn't take part in elections prior to becoming a president. He replaced Spiro Agnew, Nixon's VP, who resigned in 1973 (ten months before Nixon). So Ford can be considered the most accidental American president
Another interesting fact about Ford is that he lived through two assassination attempts, separated by only 17 days. He was also the longest-lived American president (died at the age of 93 years and 5 months).

It's not denial. I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

This has nothing to do with Ford, but how old was Reagan when he died?

I believe he was 93 as well. Ford had a few weeks on him as I recall.

Reagan was 93 and 119 days, Ford 93 and 164 days. A close call
