In a week's time, the Los Angeles Auto Show will open its doors to the gathered media. One of the stars will definitely be the Volvo S60 Polestar Concept. Powered by a 508 bhp version of the turbocharged six-cylinder engine also found in the S60 T6, it is the most powerful road legal Volvo ever built. Capable of sprinting to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds, it is also the quickest. Finished in Polestar's familiar 'Rebel Blue', the S60 on display in LA is a concept but it would surprise us if a production model will not follow.
Definitely headed for production is Jaguar's XFR-S, which will also make its world debut in Los Angeles. To build up anticipation, the British manufacturer has released a single teaser picture and limited information. We expect the high performance saloon to be powered by the same 542 bhp V8 that is also found in the XKR-S launched last year.
Joining Mercedes-Benz Ener-G-Force in the Los Angeles Design Challenge will be the BMW ePatrol. Penned by the German company's North American subsidiary DesignworksUSA, BMW's entry is an altogether more futuristic interpretation of the police car of 2025. The design of the ePatrol "centres on a modular structure and drone technology that enhanced both teamwork and accessibility."
