Drakkie should have done so much better.

It's great for sure, but there's something about it that bugs me a little. I really don't know what, though. Definitely still a very nice photo. And it's just the opposite for superwaxer's shot. I don't know what it is, but there's something I really like about it. Something just draws me to it.

To me I think Drakkie hit the DOF right on the nail. The detail in the textures is quite amazing along with the greyish tones. I'm not sure if it'd look the same but maybe he could have used a polarizer to reduce the reflections in the water and bring out more detail in it. TBH its just what I prefer.

Don't get me wrong Super's isn't that bad, the polarizer works well to bring out the contrast/blue in the sky. But what I really like is how its sharp but the grass etc has a soft feel to it. I've heard you can get soft lenses that do this, or is there some sort of trick to it?

I love the top half of Drakkie's photo, but the bottom half just doesn't do it for me, for some reason.

I would have preffered Dary's shot to be a portrait view instead of a landscape. That would've taken the picture from 'average' to 'bloody fantastic'. Oh and I think the HDR messed up the foreground. Still a good picture though...

Yeah, I feel the same way. The mood in the upper part is really nice. I personally would have preferred if the bird was in the lower part of the picture instead of in the centre.

You present a few good ideas for any future shots there by dary

Seriously though, I don't really like dary's picture. Because the HDR has "messed up" the only reasonable focal, the main point of interest in the photo becomes the colour and to me the colour is horrible. Something about how its a mix between brown and orange tones and it makes it hard to distinguish one thing from another.

I do like the silhouette of the city in the background but would be nice to see it used in another context
