Here's another one (1024x768 unfortunately). I find this car a bit of a mystery as it is painted in racing colours, including sponsor decals, but is missing the wing of the Group 4 or ProCar version. Maybe someone knows more about it.

I think it is simply a normal M1, made to look like a Procar. Also the wheels look standard as well as the fenders.
For M1 lovers enjoy these ones...

The M1's life in ProCar was often quite a spectacle... here's a short film of the series at Monaco, plus a nice overview of my favorite, the Warhol art car. I have many 35mm photos taken years ago including an M1 painted by Frank Stella for Peter Gregg. At the time it was for sale, but whomever has it now has kept it hidden the past 15 years.

These cars had been relative bargains for a long time, but not anymore.

The picture in the post from "Man of Steel" is still a prototype. There are a few minor changes on the bodywork on the later M1 Procar's.
Check out also the bmwm1.com website. We run two of these cars in Historic Racing in Canada and the US with VARAC, SVRA and HSR.

Welcome to UCP and thanks for the clarification. The M1 site does not seem not to be overly active. Is the Registry still working?
