I like the big rear deck of the NSX. Personally I reckon that is one of its coolest looking feautures.

Hardly, the SRT-10 beats the Enzo(remind me how much its brakes cost) in braking (amoungts any car near its price range.) On top of that it slaloms over 70mph, and pulls over 1 G on the skid pad. Sure sure just numbers, but put a good driver behind the wheel and anything under 200K will most likely be embarassed (it holds its own with the Ford GT.) Yeah sure, bring up gas milage, it gets about the same mpg as an M5...

As far as I know, as long as it was built in or before 1973 (and 1978 in some states, I believe), it's good to go. There are no smog laws enforced on these cars whatsoever. Some states do have 'safety inspections', and the inspectors sometimes get very anal about mods, but most states don't have these inspections.

The only hang-up might be the 1968 law that requires cars model year 1968 and up to have at least lap belts for every occupant, so if you don't have those you might get hassled.

Move to Oklahoma, we nixed inspections like 10 years ago. The only mod you could get a ticket for is having pipes too loud or lights that imitate a cop.

If you gave me the choice between an NSX and a 911, I'd pick the NSX.

I agree that the NSX is underrated.
But choosing between a NSX and a 996 911 is nothing i would even think about.

Even if the 1430 kilo / 290 bhp NSX could possibly reach the perfomance
of the 1345 kilo / 320 bhp 996 911 Carrera (which i really really doubt)
i wouldn't hesitate taking the Porsche just for the looks.
The NSX is one ugly unproportional car IMO.

erm, to the untrained observer it looks like EVERY OTHER Lotus 7 copy.
The minor differences of chassis construction, inboard/outboard dampers, IRS etc aren't obvious unless you're "in the know".
The RHs I've seen built have been pretty good.

Great Choice like the Caterham Super 7 for a start with its Rover K series inline 4, 1.796 liter pushing 160 bhp though the RWD system and it weight's in at only 500kg. I love them and they really do rock.

Just look at these time's round the Croft racing circuit along with the following: (the R1 is a 1000 cc racing bike with a 0-60 of 2.8 and a top speed of 170mph ridden by Ronnie Smith - tester for 'Performance Bikes' magazine).
