    USGP may move.

    This is a crap idea.

    Las Vegas to replace Indy?

F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone revealed he considers moving the United States Grand Prix from Indianapolis to Las Vegas. The contract with the Indianapolis track expires at the end of this year.

Indianapolis might not be interested to renew its contract with the FIA after the tyre farce that happened in the 2005 season. "The deal with Indianapolis expires at the end of this year and I'm not sure if they want to renew our deal," Ecclestone told Autosprint. "At the moment I am looking at alternative solutions to keep the US Grand Prix alive."

"We won't go back to Long Beach," Ecclestone revealed. "The best would be to build a street race in Las Vegas that passes the main road where all the big casino's are."

oh no, F1 in the US to become the boring street races of old again
Here we go another ca park experience

WHY don't the US promoters get their act together and put the package to host this at any of the great road tracks that exist ??????? What astounds me is where is the voice of the fans to the promotoers ????

Well a street race may be cool, but not in the Caeser Palace's parking lot like back in the day.....

There are a lot of cool tracks in US, but not all of them meets the "F1 Standard". Tracks like Laguna Seca, Elkhart Lake, and Road Atlanta are probably up there in terms of layout and challenges but are just too ill-equipped for a big F1 race...and since F1's presence in the states is not nearly that big, most people/promoter probably couldn't careless where it is...

Of course it IS Bernie, so what's the bet that Indy WILL be the host but Bernie will be gettting a higher perentage of the cut having scared them into thinking he'd take it elsewhere if they didnt' ??????

There's quite a good circuit I know going spare...

It's called "Spa Francorchamps", you might not of heard of it, but it is a favorite of drivers and fans, and usually provides good racing.

Not technically in the USA, but it's significantly better than Indianapolis at least.

I don't know why F1 doesn't have any races at such a well loved and historical circuit.

Oh, yes, because it is run by idiots.
    Thanks for all the fish

That is exactly how Bernie has been operating for years

Because the promoters here dont know what they are doing. I think the US GP could move to Sebring, Road Atlanta, or Road America

Even if I would love to see F1 at Road America, I have great doubts that the feeder roads will be able to deal with 100,000 viewers. Bernie might get stuck in a traffic jam again....

I'd love it to be at Road America. I love that track and everything, its not too far from here either. But anyway, they would have to build a lot more hotels and expand the roads more but since it is pretty rural out there, they could probably do it pretty easily.

The sports car track would be nice, some in-field turns and chicanes and the outer loop for speed. Much like the setup that Michelin struggled with at the Indianapolis track tho.

The California Speedway and a host of other tracks would be better than a street course in Las Vegas. I fear the promoters will pick Vegas for logistics, the city can easily accommodate of a couple of hundred thousand race fans. It's a convention platformed city.

Agreed, I hate those half oval courses with the silly makeshift infields...Indy is the best of all those configurations.

I don't have any confidence that a better alternative will gel.
