    Nitro Radio Control Cars

Finally got mine working right! After discovering they don't run when it's very cold and inadvertantly setting up the mix on ice does not help performance in the dry!

Does anyone have any general tips for these things?

    Incidentally it's an HPI RSR Evo3 with a Viper shell - I'll post a video/pics tomorrow.

When I had mine it was awesome, but then it jumped a kerb and went in a puddle, a big puddle. It's been dead since then. I should get it repaired.

You should, they're great fun in the wet. Hols a UCP RC race, surely plenty have them.

My mate has a Schumacher Menace that does 70mph! He took it to pieces on a netball post a while a ago and we should have it running again tomorrow. He wants to 'race' me.

I created an Electric menace that had performance to match a Nitro, but when mixed with a tree it didn't seem to work anymore. Funny that. Havn't had that working in quite a while. I also toyed with the idea of getting a Nitro engine from HPI to create a Nitro car, i wanted to get the 21 engine that they seem to have stopped making. I might get a new car now, save up for one.

Funny how these remote control cars all seem to end up smashed into something and not working...

I have a HPI Nitro MT, one of the older models. My advise, if you dont have one installed yet, is get a throttle return spring and a failsafe. Prevents runaway cars when your receiver is out of range. Learnt this the hard way, car ran off at full throttle, hit a kerb, broke the front lower arms and bent the chassis and front t-bone.

Make sure you clean your air filter regularly too. Just use nitro fuel to clean it up and apply some air filter oil.

Well, my father is friendly with the caretaker of the local primary school, and since it had been re-surfaced i was alowed to use it for my cars. There was a load of dust on the playground near the edge where the trees were. Normally i could drift the car through the dust for some specatcular photos, but once there was a clean patch of tarmac that the car hit and it shot off into a tree.

What Tamiya did you race, i started off with a TL-01, which i used to remove the driveshaft to the front wheels so i could have some rear wheel drive fun.

first 2 years with the TA02 chassis, then 2 years with the FF01 and after that with the TL01.

I do own a TA03 chassis too, as i gift from my sponsors

in all championships i finished in the top 10, not bad out of around 200 competitors!
