    the aston martin one-77 engine

the aston martin one-77 engine is the most Powerful Naturally aspirated engine in a production car
    hear are some stats
    7.3 V12
    750bhp
    220mph
    0-60 3.5
the one-77 engine is the same size as the cinque engine but with the one-77 you get a lot more power.
i wish AMG could get that power out of their engine for the pagani zonda cinque. that would mean if they did it would be a powerful as the zonda r

Surprisingly, the One-77 has less torque. Missed that little statistic didn't you

Yes, the One77 Motor makes only 550 Ftlbs torque, vs 570 from the 6.1l V12 in the McLaren F1 (I think that was the previous record holder?).

But in all honesty, guys have been making WAY more Horsepower in the garage with NA big blocks for decades. 800HP from a tuned big block running on pump gas is not unheard of, but the engine is a 572 CUBIC INCH V8 with a 1200CFM Racing Carburetor.
Thats about a 20K big block. But is it worth it? Hell yeah.

But I believe 750 HP from a NA production engine is a big accomplishment. Cosworth did a great job of it. And I think its about damn time Aston Martin ha sput a proper engine in their cars. In this day and age, its Ford 5.9l V12 putting out little more than 500HP is unacceptable.

Its not just about the number though. You criticise the Aston Martin engine, but it produces more power per litre than the 572's making 800hp.

Who cares? What is it like to drive? How is the sound? How well does it spin up?

What about the engine's power/weight ratio?

Yes, it should for what it costs. I know a guy who gets 750hp and 670lb-ft out of what started as a 460 ford that he built for a total investment of less than $7,000. He drives it daily and has yet (5 years on) to have any problems with it, either. Big blocks aren't about hp/liter, that's like comparing the number of airbags in an Elise vs a Camry, they have a lot of other advantages.

I fail to see how 500bhp would feel inadequate.

Well, you could barely beat a mustang with that kind of power. What happens when you're at a light talking smack and the guy dusts you? Your woman gets out and walks away, that's what. Who wants that?

good luck getting that past emissions and obtaining any semblance of fuel economy though.

It's actually not that hard to pass emissions with a big block, depending on how you built it. And because they can run at such a low RPM the mileage can be surprising. Really, compare it to Ferrari's or Lambos making similar power.

Edit: Wait, were you referring to big block/power or the carb?

except the Zonda's M120 engine is about 18 years old considering its first iteration, and it was discontinued this summer or as we speak.

I guess if the M120 was meant to be produced only in such limited numbers AMG could have done much more with it, or even if it wasn't designed in the days when AMG was just tuning existing engine and with relatively bespoke units.

Why do I always need a Pagani-related thread to come back?!
