Weird, the thread must actually appear as I am creating the poll. In this case I am retarded and forgot to press the submit button.

I like cmcpokey's photo, too bad the horizon isn't straight.
I voted for the japanese garden, maybe a little much saturation, but I like it.

I have to agree. If the horizon was straight, it would have been my first choice as well.

Its because the horizon is kinda on the same line as the birds.

I think it works as well.

But if the horizon was level, the birds would be as well, so it would still match. Personally, I'd like it level as well, but it's still a beautiful photo this way.

thanks for all of the compliments guys. it was really a very good day of shooting. went for a hike in the redwoods, then drove up PCH and stopped off at the beack. you will likely be seeing more of the shots from that day over the next few weeks. you can see a lot of them on my flickr site... Flickr: cmcpokey's Photostream

reasoning behind the initial crookedness: i was shooting the flock of pelicans as they flew across in front of me. i got about 15 shots from south to north on the beach, and in them you can see the waves coming in and out. very cool. but since i was shooting so rapidly, they all kinda arced as i went across. this one turned out the best, but the series was all pretty good.

again, thanks for the compliments, and the votes.

    My logic is flawed lol

Its still a very nice photo and personally its better the way it is.

EDIT: I kinda meant how the direction is pointing upwards as the birds are flying on the same line. But it makes no difference.

it is reflecting the fact that birds these days have to fight an up-hill battle....if the horizon had been tilted in the other direction, it shows that birds are going downhill....
