I will likely pick up the Subaru Limited model in a year's time once they hit the used lots after the lessees get their hands on them. Was considering buying one new but I'll hold off for now.

Someone on Jalopik pointed out that these stripper models will actually be cheaper than the base (normal) BRZ/GT86. Germans take note: taking things out and installing a rollcage need not add a five-digit sum to the car's price.
Aside from the stupid unpainted bumpers on the GT86, (which I'm assuming the Japanese never leave stock, anyway) these two seem to be going from strength to strength.

Nice.. last I heard, the Toyota stripper version lost the LSD too. I guess they're going for lowest price on that one. Makes sense for the pair to go in different directions though. It would be cool to see them out here, but the Subaru version would have to lose the rollcage.. they're not legal here. Half cages are ok, but then there's nothing in the front.

Life's too short to drive bad cars.
It is quite a common practice in Japanese performance cars. The Evo and STI have had those versions for ages, specifically designed to be prepared as Group N cars, altough anyone could buy them.
If they can get away with a simple rebadge to up the price massively they can get away with anything...
It would be even better if things like the rollcage and the racing harnesses would be optional extras.

Visca Catalunya!
For whatever reason, Evo didn't fancy the pair. That niggles with me. Everyone else loves them. I see tons of them around the Benz dealership where I work.
I couldn't find the Toyota thread, but they're the same cars...
Does anyone know what happened to the Toyota GT-86 convertible? I thought Toyota really wanted to make it.
It's been canned.
Like the saloon, the turbo version, the electric-KERS version and the GT86 shopping trolley.

We didn't buy enough of the coupe for them to justify making more models.
