A spin on the Awards Concept

It randomly occurred to me today that UCP should have a more automotive-themed awards system. The forum titles that I run every year are fun and all but setting UCP glory on certain aspects of automobilia and motorsport could be a welcome addition to the page if you guys agree. Nothing crazy or even annual, likely just a bracket to declare what we as a whole find to be the best:

    - Racetrack
    - Racecar/team
    - Driver
    - Era of Motorsport
    - Most influential/memorable event
etc.. I guess this could be modernized to encompass the race calendar for every year, so do an annual comp for best race, best individual performance and what not, if you catch my drift

    Thoughts?

much better than a "best member" oriented system, as that hinges around the knowledge of the forum contributors and not around their mutual likings.

Yes it could be a good idea.

Also, and this could work as well for UCP COTY awards, the nominations could be done by panel of senior members and then all forum could vote those, to avoid controversy.
Lack of charisma can be fatal.

Yes, good idea. Best car for each class.

I think we need one where I will not automatically emerge as the winner...

sounds rather mature....but has certain merits.

You know we are doing this for fun mainly, and to bring a sense of "community" on the forums.

If you don't like it, sorry, they're not gonna disappear. Avoiding them is a good trick.

Anyways I agree Rocke, but I think we should keep the traditional recipe as well. Just more awards yo.

The problem is you can't avoid them...at full song the forum is cluttered with the silly awards posts.

And the chatter involved is akin to thirteen year old girls on a sleepover.

It's still much better than the over abundance of off-topic posts we have to deal with these days.

I thought it would be more politically correct this way.

    Haha, I did as well.
    Very smooth.

I think Rocke's ideas are pretty good as long as we have mods (presumably him) willing to run the voting.
"Kimi, can you improve on your [race] finish?"
"No. My Finnish is fine; I am from Finland. Do you have any water?"
