you asked for advice from forum members, then argue with them about it. we get at least a 16 year old a month looking for what 1000 hp car he shoudl get when his parents buy it for him. we have gone through all of this before. if you dont want the advice we are giving, then go away. if you truely do, then please be a bit more amicable.
Either that or get a 1998 Ford Escort 5spd, too slow to crash, and the sterring wheel starts shaking at 75mph so it's hard to speed.
I've had as much fun in this weak vanilla front-drive POS as I've had in a powerful RWD Mercedes. That amount of horsepower can ruin a car(absolute power corrupts absolutly etc...)

I'd get the Pontiac.

You could also get a used Mercedes AMG in your price range

i ad a 93 isuzu pickup. 70 hp, rwd, power nothing (not even steering). i learned how to drive that truck fast, and once i could do that, i could drive just about anything fast. so a small 4cyl truck is my reccomendation to any young driver. hard to really get in trouble in it, and if you wreck it, your out only 1000 bucks.

Meh, I took a nice long look at a G8 the yesterday. Not bad, but honestly, the ketchup red/black interior made me want to vomit.

Why do you need such fancy cars to begin with anyway? But if you're serious and dead set on the two, I've heard some pretty bad stuff about those Evolution drivetrain parts.

The same BS as goes aroud about the GT-R.
Yes, if you keep launching then you wear things out faster.
Also, folks fit super sticky tyres and then are surprised that it causes problems

The G8 is gonna make the best candidate for a first time car/daily driver......out of the choices you listed. A purpose built performance car is just not a good idea for a first car....no matter how good a driver you think you are. Natural skill is great, but there is absolutely no substitue for experience. Wait until you're out of college before getting yourself a sporting car.

It seems that in our society nowadays there's no place for common sense.

I know this is off the point of the thread, but why would somebody want a mega powered 1st car? I wanted a low powered sportscar for my first (didn't get it obviously), it just seems stupid, really.
I've ranted about the kids at my school before, so I won't do it here, but what the **** is wrong with a low-powered and good-handling car?
Extreme Example: S Class V12 vs Lotus Elan

Nothing.

I'd want a Lotus Elan as my whateverst car.

So would I, but your average teen driver wants a 1,000,000,000,000,000,0o0hp car with a stereo ten times a loud as that.

That's because they don't understand cars at all.

And they are the same chaps that pass many hours discussing cars they've never even come close to them instead of getting out there to drive.

frankly I'd be shit scared with a brand new EVO as a first car. I figure that finding your limits in a low powered car first (e.g my slow as death Sigma or my mums Toyota Corona) would be a whole lot easier and less terrifying than trying to find your limits in a performance car such as the G8 or the Lancer, where once you do find them you're probably going alot faster and therefore bigger the mess etc.

Indeed, the moral of this story, Gumball, is to twin-turbo a Sigma.
You might just get it out of the negative horsepower range.
