Chassis: 36
Chassis 36 was the first of a pair of Type 24 S Gordinis built in 1953. It was raced exclusively during the season and as such was the fastest car in the Tour de France. Now joined by its sister car, chassis 36 continued to be campaigned by the works team for several more seasons, competing in all the major events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Mille Miglia, the Targa Florio and the Carrera Panamericana. Behra used this car to win the Coupes du Salon in 1954 and in 1956 Brazilian Hermano de Silva Ramos won the Coupes de Vitesse.

In mid 1956, the car captured the attention of famous write Francoise Sagan and she enquired about the price. Amédée Gordini had a quick word with his assistant and inquired what the company's current debt and the salaries due totalled. This what Sagan eventually paid for the car as she took delivery of the car in August of 1956. It was sold on to a French gentleman racer late in 1958, who fielded it in several hillclimbs. The fifth owner acquired the car in 1997 and has since campaigned it in all the major historic events like the Le Mans Classic and Goodwood Revival.

The only Type 24 S Gordini in private hands has now been consigned to RM Auctions 2014 Paris Sale. It will cross the block on February 5th with a pre-sale estimate of EUR 3 - 4 million.
