Chassis:
Following a second place debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June of 1982, chassis 003 was successfully raced in the remainder of the World Championship. Together with Jochen Mass, Jacky Ickx used to win at Spa-Francorchamps, Fuji and Kyalami and with Derek Bell, the Belgian also used 003 to score a victory at Brands Hatch. In 1983, it was entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Vern Schuppan, Al Holbert and Hurley Haywood. Starting seventh, they won the race outright, followed closely by 1982 winners Ickx and Bell. The car was only raced a few times more with John Watson giving it a final outing at the DRM Nürburgring round in 1984. It was subsequently sold to Vern Schuppan and following several American owners, it is today part of spectacular London-based, Brazilian-owned Porsche collection.
