Keke Rosberg used this FW08C only once during the 1983 European Grand Prix at Brands Hatch where the Fin retired with an engine failure. Chassis FW08-09's main claim fame was a test earlier in the year at Donnington Park with the up and coming Ayrton Senna behind the wheel. This was the Brazilian's first test but he was immediately on the pace, beating the team's test driver Jonathan Palmer by nearly two seconds. Williams, however, did not have a seat for Senna in 1984, which prompted him to sign for Toleman. More recently, chassis FW08-09 joined the Donnington Collection.
