One of the French Grand Prix entrants, this example was retained by Mercedes during the War in disassembled state. In 1919, it was rebuilt and received a later chassis number. It was among the machines that competed in the 1922 Targa Florio. While the sister car owned by Mercedes-Benz was destroyed during WW2, this one fortunately survived. Maintained to full running order, it is today part of the Mercedes-Benz museum collection. Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the French Grand Prix victory, it was brought to various events in 2014.
