Chassis:
Although first raced by Jean-Pierre Beltoise, the second Matra MS 10 was used for the remainder of 1968 by Jackie Stewart. The Scot used it to win the German Grand Prix under absolutely torrential conditions, beating Graham Hill in his Lotus 49 by over four minutes. After the race Stewart gave the Nürburgring track its famous 'Green Hell' nickname. He also stated he could not remember being more frightened in a racing car. In addition to his epic win at the 'Ring, Stewart drove chassis MS 10/2 to three more victories in 1968 and another at the start of the following season. In the twelve races the chassis competed it was classified eleven times and took five victories.
A subsequent owner of the highly successful Formula 1 racer took up the ambitious plan to (re)create all the different aero configurations used by the team that year. The 1968 season was one of experiments and a large number of wings were tried. Currently the various noses, wings and winglets are available to create all four victorious configurations used in 1968.
