Chassis:
The eighth 934½ built, this example was sold new to Canadian Ludwig Heimrath for use in the 1977 Trans-Am series. He scored seven top two finishes during the 11-round season, including an outright win at the Mosport 6 Hours. Heimrath was named champion at the end of the season after he had successfully protested Peter Gregg for using illegal parts from a 935. Between 1978 and 1981, Heimrath raced the car in full 935 specification. At the end of the 1981 season, the car was retired from contemporary use and stored in a warehouse in Toronto.
It was eventually acquired by a Porsche enthusiast in 1995. At that time, the car had been stripped down to the bare chassis and the remainder of the parts came in a separate container. The reconstruction of the car to its Trans-Am Championship winning configuration took five years to complete. In April of 2006, the current owners, two brothers, acquired the car and had it restored for a second time to make it bring it even closer to the factory specification. Since then, it has been regularly raced in historic events on the West Coast. During that time, the car has been fitted with a slightly wider rear-end and larger wing to improve its competitiveness.
