Chassis:
Following its contemporary retirement, chassis M5A/1 was retained by Bonnier, who hung it up on a wall in his art gallery. Following Bonnier's untimely death at Le Mans in 1972, the unique machine was sold by his widow to another Swedish enthusiast. The M5A was eventually restored and repainted to its original colours. In 1999, it was damaged substantially when the late Sir Jack Brabham crashed the car during the second Goodwood Revival meeting. In the following years, it was carefully restored by experts Hall & Hall. Today, the M5A is part of a prominent, American McLaren collection. At a very rare outing, it was demonstrated by Sir Jackie Stewart at the 2015 Goodwood Revival, where Bruce McLaren's short but highly successful life was celebrated.
