Chassis:
Using a 2,600 mm chassis, this is the first Series II 400 Superamerica built. Finished in Grigio Argento and equipped with covered headlights, it debuted in the fall of 1962 at the Earls Court Motor Show in London. The car was then sold to North American distributor Luigi Chinetti, who showed chassis 3931SA at the Chicago Auto Show. It appears he retained the car and did not sell it on until the 1970s when it was acquired by Gary Wassermann, who was in the San Francisco area. During the early 1980s, it was comprehensively restored by Terry York Motor Cars and then sold to Yoshijuki Hayashi. In 1995, it passed into the hands of fellow Japanese collector Yoshiho Matsuda. During the 2000s, it was back in American hands and more recently has been owned by a succession of German enthusiasts.
